Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) counts more than 36,000 students from about 130 nations and is one of the ten largest German universities and the science center of the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. JGU is a place of learning, based on the unity of research and teaching. Its 4,150 scientists, including about 540 professors, teach and perform research in more than 150 institutes and clinics.

The variety of fields and the many excellent research centers and units provide students, teachers and researchers with a wide range of scientific and artistic activities, an interdisciplinary work environment together with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and - in the spirit of the person after whom the university was named - innovative handling of new ideas and technologies.
